# Linq

> Answer iMessage and SMS through Linq

Linq lets the assistant answer an iMessage or SMS thread. A customer messages your Linq number, and the reply goes back as plain text in that thread. iMessage replies are plain text, without Markdown.

## When to use it

Use it when the phone line already lives in Linq and you want the assistant to take the conversation. Paste the signing secret before the first real customer message.

## What the assistant hears

The assistant hears **message.received**, **reaction.added** and **reaction.removed**. Other Linq events are not required.

## Where the keys come from

The linked provider guide shows the screens for these clicks. Follow the clicks below together with those pictures.

The API key is in your Linq account. The signing secret does not exist until you create the webhook subscription, and that request includes the public URL. Linq returns a value starting with `whsec_` once; it cannot be read again. The request and the one-time secret are shown in [Create a webhook subscription](https://docs.linqapp.com/guides/webhooks/subscriptions/).

## Create it at the provider

1. Sign in to Linq and copy the API key.
2. Do not create the webhook yet. The subscription needs the Famulor URL, and the secret appears only in that response.

## Connect it in Famulor

Your plan includes this channel. Open **Settings → Channels**, choose the card, name the connection, pick an assistant and save. The shared conversation settings — response delay (default 5 seconds) and inactivity timeout (default 30 minutes) — are described on the [messaging channels](https://docs.famulor.io/channels/messaging.md) page.

On the **Linq** card paste **Linq API key**. Leave **Webhook signing secret** empty for this first save.

After saving, open the connection menu and choose **Copy webhook URL**. Paste that exact address into the provider. A verified custom domain is already part of the address Famulor shows.

## Point the provider at Famulor

1. Copy the Famulor webhook URL from the connection menu.
2. Create the Linq webhook subscription with that URL. Subscribe at least to **message.received**, **reaction.added** and **reaction.removed**. The guide shows the create request; the response includes the signing secret once.
3. Immediately edit the Famulor connection and paste that value into **Webhook signing secret**.
4. Save before anyone messages the number. A message that arrives before the secret is saved can mark the connection with an error. Reopen it, paste the secret, and save again.
5. Send a test message. The thread appears in History.

## History

Open [History](https://docs.famulor.io/monitoring/history.md) and filter by **Linq**. The thread, the assistant reply and any analysis appear there. You can pause the assistant and answer manually.

## API, MCP and command line

The same connection can be created with the public API, the MCP tool `create_messaging_connector`, or the command line. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

```bash theme={null}
famulor create-messaging-connector --platform linq --name "Support" \
  --assistant-id ASSISTANT_UUID --api-key LINQ_API_KEY
```
