# Notion

> Reply to @mentions in Notion page and block comments

Notion lets the assistant reply in page and block comment threads. A teammate types the bot name on a page comment, and the answer comes back in that same thread.

## When to use it

Use it for a wiki, a customer brief, or a project page where the discussion already sits in comments. The assistant does not edit page content and does not watch the whole workspace until you share each page with the connection.

## What the assistant hears

The assistant hears comment events on pages shared with the connection. Notion connection bots are not selectable in the @ menu, so people type `@` and the bot name by hand. Only a **Comment created** subscription is required.

## Where the keys come from

The linked provider guide shows the screens for these clicks. Follow the clicks below together with those pictures.

A workspace owner opens [Notion Settings → Connections](https://www.notion.com/help/create-integrations-with-the-notion-api), turns on developer mode, and creates a connection. The token starts with `ntn_` or `secret_` and is shown once. The webhook verification token does not exist yet: Notion sends it only after the public URL exists. The webhook screens are in [Notion webhooks](https://developers.notion.com/reference/webhooks).

## Create it at the provider

1. In Notion, open **Settings → Connections**. You need to be a workspace owner.
2. Turn on developer access for internal connections and choose **New connection**.
3. Name it, pick the workspace, and enable **Read comments** and **Insert comments**.
4. Open the connection menu and copy the integration token. It is shown once.
5. On each page the assistant should see, open **••• → Connections** and add this connection.
6. Leave the webhook for the next step. Notion asks for a public HTTPS URL before it creates the verification token.

## Connect it in Famulor

Your plan includes this channel. Open **Settings → Channels**, choose the card, name the connection, pick an assistant and save. The shared conversation settings — response delay (default 5 seconds) and inactivity timeout (default 30 minutes) — are described on the [messaging channels](https://docs.famulor.io/channels/messaging.md) page.

On the **Notion** card paste **Notion integration token**. Leave **Webhook verification token** empty. **Bot @mention name** is the name people will type after `@`.

After saving, open the connection menu and choose **Copy webhook URL**. Paste that exact address into the provider. A verified custom domain is already part of the address Famulor shows.

## Point the provider at Famulor

1. Copy the webhook URL. It is also shown when you edit the connection.
2. In the Notion connection, open **Webhooks → Create a subscription** and choose **Comment created**. Paste the Famulor URL.
3. Notion sends the verification token to Famulor once. Reopen the Famulor connection. The token appears as **Notion verification token**, and the connection menu has **Copy verification token**.
4. Paste that token into Notion’s **Verify** step. If the first delivery was missed, use Notion’s option to resend the token.
5. After Notion verifies the URL, the address is locked. A new comment that @mentions the bot name appears in History.

## History

Open [History](https://docs.famulor.io/monitoring/history.md) and filter by **Notion**. The thread, the assistant reply and any analysis appear there. You can pause the assistant and answer manually.

## API, MCP and command line

The same connection can be created with the public API, the MCP tool `create_messaging_connector`, or the command line. Replace the placeholders with your own values.

```bash theme={null}
famulor create-messaging-connector --platform notion --name "Support" \
  --assistant-id ASSISTANT_UUID --token ntn_… --bot-username notion-bot
```
