In assistant settings, you choose whether an assistant receives phone calls or places calls. In short: inbound answers, outbound dials.

Inbound caller

An inbound caller is the phone assistant that handles incoming calls — it answers when customers or leads call you. Examples: reception, front desk, support lines, general availability.

Outbound caller

An outbound caller is the assistant that places outgoing calls — it dials contacts you configure. Examples: cold outreach, appointment follow-ups, callback campaigns.
You set call direction (inbound vs. outbound) in the assistant settings; see General settings for numbers, routing, and details. For large-scale outbound dialing, use Campaigns.
