SIP Integration
Overview
Connect your existing phone system and numbers with Famulor. This guide will help you understand and set up the SIP integration. If you need assistance during the setup, our support team is available to help.Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC): automatic number import
Famulor supports Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) for major SIP trunk providers. You can connect Twilio, Telnyx, Zadarma, and DIDLogic in the dashboard and import numbers automatically—pick your carrier, enter your account credentials, then select one or more numbers to attach to your agents. No support ticket is required for this standard self-service path.
Two ways to add numbers to Famulor
- Guided import (recommended for Twilio, Telnyx, Zadarma, DIDLogic) — Use the wizard under Your Phone Numbers → Integrate SIP trunk. The flow walks you through carrier credentials, in-product help (FAQs and quick setup tips), and number selection. This is the fastest way to sync existing inventory from your carrier account.
- Manual SIP / generic trunk — Use the classic SIP form (SIP Extension or Phone Number DID) and provider-specific guides when you want full hands-on control, use a carrier outside the picker, or follow the same steps you use today for manual Famulor configuration.
Twilio
Connect an existing Twilio account with Elastic SIP Trunking credentials. The wizard highlights what you need (for example account SID and auth token) and common checks such as balance, geo permissions, and transfer behavior. For a fully manual Elastic SIP setup (termination, origination, IP ACLs), see the Twilio SIP trunking guide.Telnyx
Connect your Telnyx account through the same BYOC experience: enter your Telnyx API credentials in the wizard, then import the numbers you already host on Telnyx. Telnyx-specific guidance appears in the panel while you connect.Zadarma
Zadarma is available in the carrier picker for teams that use Zadarma trunks and numbering. Use the guided flow to supply Zadarma credentials and import eligible numbers without retyping SIP URIs by hand where the integration supports it.DIDLogic
DIDLogic is included for additional regional and pricing options. Choose DIDLogic in the wizard, complete authentication, and import your DIDLogic numbers into Famulor alongside the other carriers. What is SIP Integration?
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) integration allows you to connect your existing phone system with Famulor. Think of it as building a bridge between your current phone setup and our AI platform. This means you can:- Use your existing phone numbers with our AI assistants
- Keep your current phone system and provider
- Make and receive calls through your existing setup
- Retain full control over your numbers
- Reduce carrier costs by using local VoIP providers with better rates
How It Works
When you integrate your phone system with Famulor: Incoming Calls: Calls to your numbers are routed through your phone system to our AI assistants. Outgoing Calls: Our AI assistants can make calls that appear to come from your numbers. Management: You continue to manage your numbers through your current provider. Cost Efficiency: Benefit from competitive rates of your VoIP provider for call termination.Integration Options
You can connect your phone system to Famulor in two ways:1. PBX Extension Integration
This is like giving our AI platform an “extension” on your phone system: What it is: Connect a specific extension from your PBX/phone system. Ideal for:- Testing the integration
- Forwarding specific extensions to the AI
- Simple setup with existing phone systems
- Your extension number (e.g., 1000)
- Extension username and password
- Your PBX server address (e.g., pbx.yourcompany.com)
2. Direct Number Integration
This connects specific phone numbers to our platform: What it is: Forward one or more of your phone numbers to our AI. Ideal for:- Dedicated AI phone lines
- Customer service numbers
- Sales or support lines
- Your phone number (e.g., +49 30 123456)
- SIP credentials from your provider
- Your provider’s SIP server address
Authentication & Call Flow
Bidirectional Configuration
The SIP integration uses the same credentials for inbound and outbound calls: Incoming Calls (VoIP → Famulor):Credential Synchronization
To ensure proper operation:- The credentials you enter in the Famulor dashboard must exactly match your VoIP configuration.
- The same username/password pair is used for both directions.
- Any credential changes must be updated in both systems.
- If you change credentials in your VoIP system, make sure to update them in the Famulor dashboard (and vice versa) to maintain the connection.
Setting Up Your Integration
Step 1: Gather Your Information
For PBX Extension:Step 2: Configure in the Dashboard
- Go to your Famulor dashboard
- Navigate to “Your Phone Numbers”
- Click on “Integrate SIP Trunk”. If you use Twilio, Telnyx, Zadarma, or DIDLogic, start with the guided BYOC import described in the section above (carrier selection and automatic number import). For any other provider—or to configure SIP fields manually—continue with the trunk type and fields in the next steps.
Step 3: Select SIP Trunk Type
At the top of the form, choose one of these trunk types:- SIP Extension – Use this if you already have SIP credentials (an extension) provided by your VoIP provider.
- Phone Number (DID) – Use this if you want to integrate a dedicated Direct Inward Dial (DID) number instead of a generic SIP extension.
Step 4: Outgoing Settings
These control how Famulor sends outbound calls via your SIP provider. SIP Address – Enter the address/server of the SIP trunk without the port. Outgoing Proxy (Static IP) – Some SIP providers require calls to originate from a single whitelisted IP address. Configure as follows:- Toggle ON – If your SIP provider requires a fixed source IP, enable “Outgoing Proxy comes from a fixed IP address.” Famulor will then send all outbound requests from a known static IP. Use only if your provider explicitly requires a single source IP.
- Toggle OFF – If your provider accepts calls from any IP, leave off. Famulor will send calls from dynamic IPs.
Step 5: Number Format Configuration
This informs our system how to format phone numbers when placing calls. Choose based on your provider’s requirements: International with +Step 6: Incoming Settings
These determine how Famulor receives and authenticates incoming calls from your SIP provider. Our SIP Address – Famulor assigns a unique inbound SIP URI (e.g.,your-unique-id.sip.livekit.cloud). Your SIP provider must be configured to send inbound calls to this address by pointing their outbound trunk or routing rule to this URI.
Important: You can find your specific SIP URL in your Famulor dashboard under “Phone Numbers” → “Integrate SIP Trunk” → “Our SIP Address”.
Step 7: Select Country
Select the country where your SIP trunk is provisioned.Step 8: Verify Setup
After configuration:- Place a test call to your number/extension
- Confirm the AI assistant answers
- Use the test call feature to verify outbound calls
Security Requirements
Your SIP credentials must be secure:- Username: Your extension number or username provided by the provider
- Password requirements:
- 12 or more characters
- Numbers
- Upper and lowercase letters
- Special characters recommended
