Webex lets the assistant answer a direct message and an @mention in a space. Someone messages the bot, or mentions it in a group space, and the reply stays in that conversation.

When to use it

Use it when the team already works in Webex spaces. A 1:1 room with the bot is a private help desk. A group space answers only when the bot is mentioned.

What the assistant hears

The assistant hears new messages and attachment actions (buttons the bot posts). Subscribe to both. Messages in a group space that do not mention the bot are ignored.

Where the keys come from

The linked provider guide shows the screens for these clicks. Follow the clicks below together with those pictures. You create the bot and choose the webhook secret yourself, so the secret exists before the Famulor URL. Sign in at developer.webex.com. The bot access token is shown once when the bot is created. Official screens: Create a bot and Webhooks.

Create it at the provider

  1. Open developer.webex.com and sign in.
  2. Go to My Webex Apps → Create a New App → Create a Bot.
  3. Name the bot, choose a bot username, and copy the Bot access token. It is shown once.
  4. Invent a webhook secret and keep it. You will paste the same secret into both Webex webhooks and into Famulor.

Connect it in Famulor

Your plan includes this channel. Open Settings → Channels, choose the card, name the connection, pick an assistant and save. The shared conversation settings — response delay (default 5 seconds) and inactivity timeout (default 30 minutes) — are described on the messaging channels page. On the Webex card paste Webex bot access token and Webhook secret. Bot display name and Bot person ID are optional. After saving, open the connection menu and choose Copy webhook URL. Paste that exact address into the provider. A verified custom domain is already part of the address Famulor shows.

Point the provider at Famulor

  1. Copy the Famulor webhook URL.
  2. In the Webex developer portal, register one webhook with resource messages, event created, your secret, and the Famulor URL.
  3. Register a second webhook with resource attachmentActions, event created, the same secret, and the same URL.
  4. Message the bot directly, or @mention it in a space. The thread appears in History.

History

Open History and filter by Webex. The thread, the assistant reply and any analysis appear there. You can pause the assistant and answer manually.

API, MCP and command line

The same connection can be created with the public API, the MCP tool create_messaging_connector, or the command line. Replace the placeholders with your own values.
